Dr. David Tosh from Quercus at Queens University Belfast will give a presentation on the Citizen Science project we worked on together early this year.  Essentially a survey of over 60 forest and woodland sites across the county for red and grey squirrels… another species topped the pole but you’ll have to come along to find out what that was! It will be great to hear how we can interpret the data… and of course the records will feed into the impending revision of the UK Mammal Atlas.

We will also get to hear of the excellent outreach work that Derrygonnelly Field Studies Centre has undertaken for the second year, raising awareness around the various issues affecting red squirrel survival. The messages were taken into classrooms but also they have plans to install additional intrepration on some outdoor sites. All good stuff!

The National Trust’s Conservation Ranger is also happy to give a walk & talk for those that wish to see some more of Crom after the meeting. Its a great site for lots of other species too – bats included which should be emerging as we finish up.

Everyone is welcome as always to our meetings. There will be a range of leaflets and information for people to take home on the night as well as. Hope you can make it!
