The National Biological Data Recording Centre for the Republic of Ireland is running an all-Ireland mammal survey effort to update the Atlas of Mammals for Ireland. This is a collaboration with the recording centre in Northern Ireland, the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR). The survey is currently active and runs until December 2015.

Please submit your records to either centre and get your area on the map! Gathering this data is important for a number of reasons including directing research, funding and conservation activity. Its a great way of ‘citizen scientists’ to contribute to a better understanding of the population changes of a range of mammals including the red squirrel, grey squirrel and pine marten.  Your efforts also contribute to focused species work including the Irish Stoat Project and a Hedgehog Survey.
